Elon Musk's poison-spewing prized possession faces shutdown that could reshape America
Elon Musk quickly began pulling the plug on federal projects amid an escalating feud with Donald Trump, but the high-stakes clash now further threatens the most prized asset in his empire. With Tesla shares in freefall and SpaceX contracts on the line, the ambitious megaproject Musk most needs to compete in the AI race could become collateral in the explosive back-and-forth. Built in Tennessee, the supercomputer Colossus powers Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI. The vast facility cost an estimated 4 billion and Musk plans to spend tens of billions more expanding it in a bid to challenge AI giants OpenAI and Google. However, it is already mired in an explosive backlash that the president could seize on.

'We're Living in a Nightmare:' Inside the Health Crisis of a Texas Bitcoin Town
On an evening in December 2023, 43-year-old small business owner Sarah Rosenkranz collapsed in her home in Granbury, Texas and was rushed to the emergency room. Her heart pounded 200 beats per minute; her blood pressure spiked into hypertensive crisis; her skull throbbed. "It felt like my head was in a pressure vise being crushed," she says. "That pain was worse than childbirth." Rosenkranz's migraine lasted for five days. Doctors gave her several rounds of IV medication and painkiller shots, but nothing seemed to knock down the pain, she says. This was odd, especially because local doctors were similarly vexed when Indigo, Rosenkranz's 5-year-old daughter, was taken to urgent care earlier that year, screaming that she felt a "red beam behind her eardrums." It didn't occur to Sarah that these symptoms could be linked. But in January 2024, she walked into a town hall in Granbury and found a room full of people worn thin from strange, debilitating illnesses.

Be well: Prevent dangerous falls among older adults by taking key steps
As more doctors and nurses leave the profession, providers are turning to AI technology to help bridge the coverage gap, especially among older Americans. More than one out of four older people experience a fall each year -- and three million of them are treated in the emergency room for their injuries, according to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dangerous falls can be prevented by following safety protocols. Christynne Helfrich, PT, a physical therapist commercial consultant for Hinge Health in Illinois, shared some expert tips with Fox News Digital. Going for daily walks or engaging in other low-impact physical activities can help to strengthen muscles, keep joints flexible and maintain overall endurance, Helfrich said.

A computer model predicts who will become homeless. Then these workers step in
When her phone rang in February, Mashawn Cross was skeptical of the gentle voice offering help at the end of the line. "You said you do what? And you're with who?" the 52-year-old recalled saying. Cross, who wasn't working because of her ailing back and knees, was scraping by on roughly $200 a month in aid plus whatever she could make from recycling bottles and cans. Her gas and electric bills were chewing up her checks.

How to Use Artificial Intelligence for Chronic Diseases Management
Helping patients following a stroke: In emergency rooms, when patients come in with a stroke called an intracerebral hemorrhage, they undergo a CT scan. That scan is examined by a computer trained to analyze CT data, cutting the time to diagnosis and limiting brain damage. Preventing heart problems: Applying AI to ECGs has resulted in a low-cost test that can be widely used to detect the presence of a weak heart pump, which can lead to heart failure if left untreated. Mayo Clinic is well situated to advance this use of AI because it has a database of more than 7 million ECGs. First, all identifying patient information is removed to protect privacy.
AI embedded in the EHR helps prevent adverse medication interactions
Artificial intelligence has stepped in to help complete the medication information in the medical record for patients who can't remember what drugs they are taking, let alone the dose. This is most of us, according to Rebecca Sulfridge, a clinical pharmacist and emergency specialist at Covenant HealthCare in Michigan. Most patients have gaps in their medication history. Technicians hear, "'I take three pills. One is a little white one. One is a pink one,'" or "'I know I take two blood pressure meds and one to sleep at night,'" in face-to-face talks with patients, according to Sulfridge.
The Future Of AI In Post-Covid Healthcare
Kira Radinsky, co-founder and Chairman of Diagnostic Robotics, wants to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. The lessons learned from initial deployments of the startup's AI-based digital triage platform in Israel and the U.S. and the valuable experience gained during the Covid-19 pandemic, point to a future of better healthcare: Providing the right treatment at the right time in the most appropriate setting. At the Mayo Clinic, Diagnostic Robotics' triage platform suggests possible diagnoses and provides a risk score for each patient based on their answers to questions regarding their medical conditions. The Mayo Clinic's Dr. John Halamka calls it "Waze for healthcare," stressing its use as a navigation system, matching patients with the right healthcare resource at the hospital's emergency room or even before they arrive there. The State of Rhode Island has used Diagnostic Robotics' platform to help manage its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
